Erika was born in Germany. her mother died in childbirth and her dad was too poor to take care of her, so she was given to a foster family in England.
Said foster family was pretty damn neglectful. they'd use her foster money on their other child and not look after her. she slept on a mattress on the floor for 12 years, never had her "parents" show up for anything, and was forgotten about most days to the point that she wouldn't get any food.
after a while they started to believe they deserved this. she believed everything she was told. she believed she was stupid. they believed they were pathetic.
Erika developed depression at 14. started hating themself. started punishing herself for it. their parents must have a point, right? their brother must deserve everything more, right? there's a reason she has no friends, right?
at 16, Erika ran away. she lived in an abandoned old van in the middle of a nature reserve. she went to college to become a therapist. she didn't want anybody to have to go through what she did, alone anyway.
at 20, Erika finally got qualified to be a therapist. however, she was put in an army barracks instead. not what she wanted, but she'd make it work.
oh yeah, she also has a flat now too I forgot
she only saw 3 patients the whole time she was there. one of which she took great interest in.
he didn't need to be there. he was sent there for "behavioural problems", which later turned out to just be a very grumpy attitude.
at this point Erika had already started getting worse again. she had lost almost all common sense by then, so, unprofessionally, she asked him out for a drink, to which he agreed.
they saw each other on and off for a few months, then officially got together.
at 21, Erika had hit her lowest. ever. she was spending most days lying in bed, smoking weed and cutting herself. she was done. she didn't want to do this anymore. to live. she didn't feel like she was making a difference at all.
one day, at work, she was attacked by one of her patients. they were very angry at her for having to report something, so they swung at her with a knife and hit her eye.
after work, she got home, had an episode, downed an entire bottle of antidepressants, and rushed to the hospital.
they managed to get most of the pills out of her system, but she was still sick. very sick. she was seeing things, throwing up, passing out and having seizures.
after a few days, she got better again and she couldn't wait to go home, get back to work, talk to her boyfriend...
she was so wrong.
she spent the next 2 weeks in a ward and got diagnosed with a schizoaffective disorder.
when she got back to work, after her 2nd session of the day, she had someone from the agency come and meet her.
they told her that she was too mentally unwell to continue her job and was let go.
she got home, planning to attempt again, only to find her boyfriend sat on her couch.
he wasn't supposed to be out.
he'd heard her meeting with the agency and knew exactly what she'd do once she got home, so he snuck off and had gotten in their flat somehow.
she spent 2 hours sobbing in his arms. he was surprisingly caring for someone with an attitude so bad he was referred to a therapist for behavioural issues.
after a while she passed out from nonstop sobbing and woke up the next morning with him still there. apparently, he wasn't going back, because obviously she wasn't well.
the next 8 years were quite uneventful. Erika got a job as an electrician. she almost got evicted for not paying rent for 3 months. she was diagnosed with a lot. (Autism, ADHD, BPD.) she managed to get on and off crack cocaine. her boyfriend re-enlisted, in a different army this time. one where he could do part time, still come home and be with her, in case anything happened.
however, 8 years later, when Erika was 29, her boyfriend proposed. she said yes, obviously, and got married a year later. none of her family showed up.
at 32, Erika enlisted in the army. the same one her husband was in. she got in fairly easy, apparently, they don't care about what mental state you're in in the army.
and for the past 2 years nothing has happened the end
